Position Summary:
The Center for Resilient Communities at the University of Idaho invites applications for a Post Doctoral Scientist for interdisciplinary research related to human adaptation to, and perceptions of, climate change. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of social, environmental, and computational scientists, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be part of a National Science Foundation funded 4-year project focused on Local and Place Based Adaptation to Climate Change in Underserved Rural Communities working with a collaborative team from Idaho, Nevada, and South Carolina.
The position is based in Moscow, Idaho where the successful candidate will interact with the Track-2 W2L research team at the University of Idaho, University of Nevada Reno, and University of South Carolina. The candidate will directly coordinate with the Track-2 W2L research team to carry out community engagement, social science data collection, analysis, and publication in support of the project goals. This will entail working with the Track-2 W2L research team to co-lead, lead and co-author collaborative refereed publications from the project.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD or other terminal degree in computational social science, human behavior and perceptions, or similar interdisciplinary area (e.g., computer science, geography, social-ecological science, sociology).
- Experience working both independently and as part of a large research team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative social science, behavioral or perception geography, and social-ecological systems concepts.
- Working with or liaising with stakeholders.
- Computational approaches.
- Publications on human perceptions, human behavioral geography, social-ecological systems, and/or environmental change.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a large research team.
- Publications on human perceptions, human behavioral geography, social-ecological systems, and/or environmental change are a plus.
