LaGuardia Community College Adult and Continuing Education Division is seeking a Career and Experiential Learning Associate Director, who will continue to develop and foster relationships with community stakeholders, employer partners, students, faculty, and staff. Utilizing real-time labor market information tools to identify opportunities for placement activities, training initiatives, strategic planning opportunities, grant writing and curriculum development.

 

The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Career Development Center, and duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform outreach to cultivate successful relationships with local and regional employers with the goal of increasing full time job, internships and experiential learning opportunities for students and alumni
  • Contribute to the development and growth of new initiative and existing programs based on employer needs and labor market research
  • Assist with designing, developing, implementing, and sharing best practices around all employment related functions to include recruitment and enrollment, retention and completion, and transition to credit with faculty and staff.
  • Initiate and maintain communication with ACE program staff and LAGCC faculty to ensure visibility of market and business trends, participation in sector Advisory Boards, and Experiential Learning opportunities.
  • Analyze and prepare labor market reports and make recommendations about academic and workforce program development to ensure employer driven skills are developed upon completion.
  • Develop tailored presentations for employers based on pre-consultation knowledge about the employers’ specific recruiting goals, along with information on the corresponding academic degree and ACE programs, and curriculum LAGCC offers to meet employer's needs
  • Develop partnerships with employers’ human resources professionals and hiring managers to assist them in developing strategic action plans for recruiting students and alumni
  • Supervise and manage the recruitment and placement processes along with outcomes for the Workforce Development Certification and Training Programs.
  • Represent the Career and Technical Education Center within the College community and externally
  • Provide leadership in career readiness and job development targeted towards students in ACE workforce development programs and manage employment specialist team

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to develop strong partnerships with employers and economic development professionals; gather and analyze data to generate reports on high growth, emerging, and economically critical industries, and occupations, along with their related education and workforce needs.
  • 5 to 8 years’ experience working within Human Resources, organizational development, and/or business development.
  • Knowledge and experience working with a variety of audiences and constituencies.
  • Ability to meet deadline, manage multiple priorities, and work cooperatively in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of Labor Market and other digital career tools.
  • Experience in workforce development and/or higher education setting, superior organization skills, excellent customer service and communication skills, and relationship building skills with employer partners, associates, and candidates of all levels.

  • Develops and manages career development programs and services in a College of Unit and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning. 
  • Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals
  • Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.
  • Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs
  • Manages one or more aspects of career office operations, such as on-campus recruiting
  • Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them
  • May counsel a limited number of students
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
