Summary of Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary support and second in command to the Associate Provost - Academic Innovation.
- Oversee multiple organizational units within the Innovation Academy, providing leadership and guidance to unit leaders.
- Manage and implement strategic initiatives focused on enhancing engaged learning and High Impact Practices, ensuring alignment with UVU's goals.
- Mentor and evaluate staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring personnel decisions support strategic objectives.
- Represent the Associate Provost at meetings and events, maintaining clear and consistent communication between the Associate Provost and various internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor progress on key initiatives, collect and analyze data for program evaluation, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support the Jobs CEO Council at UVU's internal action committee as needed, ensuring initiatives align with student and employer needs.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree, plus four years of experience related to the Summary of Duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a terminal degree and tenured-faculty status preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of recent, professional work experience in a strategic leadership role, including successful management of diverse groups of professionals.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Deep understanding of engaged learning innovation, high-impact practices, and community partnerships.
- Knowledge of strategic planning processes and the ability to translate strategic goals into actionable plans.
- Understanding of data collection and analysis for program evaluation and improvement.
- Knowledge of organizational behavior, change management, and leadership principles.
- Familiarity with human resource management practices, including performance evaluation and professional development.
- Knowledge of project management principles, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in academic administration, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Understanding of budget management and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and operations.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate data, identify challenges, and develop strategies to overcome them.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, support, and mentor staff and faculty.
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Logically establish priorities, problem-solve, troubleshoot, effectively make ethical decisions and streamline processes.
- Strong follow-through on initiatives and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail in planning, documenting, and executing programs and budgets.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead, motivate, train and onboard staff effectively.
- Ability to work to achieve continual forward progress until completion or a decision to abort/pivot has been made.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to identify areas of improvement and enact appropriate solutions.
- Advocate to advance the mission and goals of the Innovation Academy and its units.
- Capability to work effectively and diplomatically with the community, students, faculty, and staff under a variety of circumstances.
