About This Role:
This is a senior-level faculty position (Associate Professor or Professor).
This is a 9-month full-time faculty position with an administrative appointment as Director. The administrative appointment will be a three-year renewable term.
The Director will be expected to lead the Center for Midstream Management and Science in prioritizing and developing a vigorous externally funded midstream research agenda.
The Director will be expected to oversee the development of outreach educational programs and technical assistance services focused on the midstream sector.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
- Teaching – teach both undergraduate and graduate students (1/1 teaching load).
- Research – prioritize, administer, and lead an independent high-impact midstream research agenda.
- Service – contribute to department, college, and university service activities.
- Provide leadership for the Center for Midstream Management and Science.
- Develop Center’s mission and vision.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and networking.
- Develop strong partnerships with the midstream industry.
- Work collaboratively with university faculty, staff, and administration to prioritize, administer, and lead a vigorous, nationally-recognized midstream research agenda.
- Work collaboratively with university faculty, staff, and administration to prioritize, develop, administer, and lead targeted workshops and outreach education programs.
- Manage the Center’s budget.
- Successfully represent and market the accomplishments of the Center.
Key Competencies:
The successful candidate should have broad knowledge of the midstream sector to pursue active research in areas including, but not limited to, technology gaps related to capacities, distribution, storage, optimization, reliability, inspection, data analytic and decision-making, predictive maintenance, resilience, cyber physical security, digital transformation, safety, environmental compliance, social impacts, economics, new and emerging markets, and future business opportunities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, have management and operational experience, and possess interpersonal and relationship-building skills to help Lamar University realize its strategic goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have a doctorate in engineering, business, social sciences or a related field and a record of excellence commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- The qualified candidate will have an established record of scholarly publication, a successful record of external funding, an active research agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching as reflected in course evaluation data.
Preferred Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading large, multi-disciplinary teams, a strong research record, and success in obtaining funding from government and industry sponsors.
- The successful candidate also is expected to mentor junior faculty and graduate students, aiding them toward achieving their ultimate career goals and guiding them toward raising external funds to support their own research.
- Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience, including budgetary oversight.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings. Able to function at a desk with a computer and telephone.
