Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Trainee/Apprenticeship: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. After successful completion of a one year apprenticeship in the assigned trade(s), the position can be updated to the Contributing Level.

Essential Job Functions
Employee provides technical knowledge and expertise in the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation of sprinkler and plumbing systems as well as associated system components. In addition, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of building mechanical, sprinkler, and hydronic systems. Also performs maintenance, repair, and installation of campus water distribution system when required. This position serves as crew leader for sprinkler and plumbing functions in the Mechanical Shop.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Ability to work from oral and written instructions.

Ability to follow formulate bills of materials and follow schematic drawings.

Make repairs to components or fabricate replacement parts.

Ability to work in confined spaces, spaces with hot or cold temperatures, and physical strength to work with steam system components.

Lead Role in Sprinkler Zone; Teaching Sprinkler/Plumbing Distribution best practices and proper techniques to two other contributing employees.

Ability to troubleshoot and correct total system issues and make economical corrections.

Ability to assist in other areas of the Mechanical Shop; Plumbing, Water Distribution, Collection Systems, Sprinkler Systems and Steam and Condensate systems.

Ability to operate university owned vehicles with a valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications
Fire sprinkler Maintenance Technician certification
Commercial Driver's License
Commercial Plumbing experience
Water distribution Experience

Work Schedule/Hours: Eight-hour day between the hours of 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Due to the inaccessibility of some educational areas during normal working hours, work schedules may vary.Position is considered MANDATORY and is subject to call back on evenings, weekends, and holidays should emergencies occur. Position is subject to Primary and Secondary call back schedules. Work beyond the normal eight-hour day is occasionally required.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $52,514 - $53,923
