Position Overview:
The Rochester located Student Engagement Coordinator contributes to the School of Nursing’s mission by providing student services to undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program on the Rochester campus.

The staff member will support the overall function of OSCAS by assisting with programming and events as well as serving as a contact for Rochester located BSN student needs.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of OSCAS/Undergraduate Programs Coordinator, the Rochester located Student Engagement Coordinator also works closely with UMR and UMNTC Offices of Admissions and Rochester located faculty. Located in Rochester, the person in this position shares responsibility for coverage of the Nursing Suite and will have the option to work a hybrid schedule with 2-3 days on campus per week depending on the time of year. Occasional night and weekend work is required in this role. Estimated salary range is $47,389.96 - $72,174.36; salary is commensurate with candidate's qualifications and experience.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Student Engagement & Initiatives 30%
  • Foster sense of connection with the School of Nursing through community programming for Rochester located students.
  • Develop affinity programming for Rochester located students (e.g. Students of Color, LGBTQ Students, Men in Nursing).
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of select School or program wide events in collaboration with Twin Cities located team (e.g. Welcome to the Profession, Commencement, etc.) as determined by the Assistant Director.
  • Collaborate with key partners at the University of Minnesota Rochester to support success of the One Program, Two Campus model (e.g. Student Success Coaching, One Stop, Residence Life).
  • Serve on School of Nursing and University-wide committees as requested.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to encourage and sustain professional growth.
  • Other program duties as assigned or required.
Transition Programming 40%
  • Lead the planning and execution of New Student Orientation and BSN Welcome Day for incoming Rochester located students.
  • Coordinate the Transfer Student Mentor Program including hiring, training, and supervision of Peer Mentors and planning mentor program events throughout the academic year.
  • Develop and deliver a section of Nursing Seminar for new Transfer Students.
  • Provide periodic opportunities for first year Early Assurance students at UMR to connect with the School of Nursing.
Career Programming & Employer Engagement 20%
  • Lead the planning and execution of semesterly Career Month program for BSN students on both campuses.
  • Provide individual career coaching to Rochester located students regarding application materials, licensure, and the job search.
  • Connect with employers for career-related programming and opportunities.
  • Maintain the Nursing Career Resources website.
BSN Transfer Student Recruitment & Admissions 10%
  • Collaborate with UMR Admissions on shared admissions priorities (e.g. tours, ambassador training).
  • Serve as Nursing representative at recruitment events taking place in Rochester (e.g. Discovery Days, BSN Expo).
  • Deliver virtual information sessions and answer prospective student emails.
  • Connect individually with prospective transfer students on a case-by-case basis.
  • Review applications and recommend admissions decisions for Internal Collegiate Transfers (ICT).
  • Recruit and lead a group of student volunteers (Ambassadors) to assist with Nursing tours and admissions events.
  • Prepare prospective student materials in consultation with the Office of Admissions, BSN Senior Academic Advisor, Assistant Dean for Pre-Licensure Programs, Co-Director of the BSN Program, Assistant Director of OSCAS and Director of OSCAS.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or master's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous projects from ideation and initiation to completion.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and with supervision.
  • Ability to display accountability and responsibility in determining priorities and implementing processes that will match the mission and values of the Office of Student and Career Advancement Services.
  • Ability to travel to the Twin Cities campus occasionally and work some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in higher education and student affairs, college student personnel, counseling, or related field.
  • Experience providing developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant support to diverse students through programming and in a one-on-one setting.
  • Demonstrated curriculum/content development, facilitation, and teaching experience.
  • Background or interest in serving health science students.
