Assistant Teaching Professor
About the Opportunity
The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Human Resources Management. We seek a dedicated and dynamic individual to contribute to our innovative and forward-thinking programs in the field of Human Resources Management. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background, demonstrated research expertise, and significant industry experience as a practitioner in Human Resources Management. The position is a full-time, open rank, non-tenure track, renewable appointment located in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities:
This full-time faculty member is expected to bring intellectual and creative capacity to bear in advancement of the program, seeking to serve students by participating in a range of teaching and non-teaching activities that support the advancement of the program. This faculty will teach a full teaching load spread throughout the year and will work with the program office on administrative issues and programmatic projects.
Faculty enjoy a collegial work environment that allows for work-life balance and are expected to be available to students online and in person as needed.
Teaching and actual course load may vary with other responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:
Teaching & Curricular Oversight (approximately 80% of time)
- Teach a variety of graduate courses in Human Resources Management, including but not limited to topics such as talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and strategic HR management.
- Engage in curriculum development, program assessment, and the integration of emerging HR trends and practices into the academic offerings.
- Mentor and advise students, guiding them in their academic and professional development.
- Participate in departmental and university-wide committee work, contributing to the academic and administrative growth of the institution.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners, staying current on the latest HR trends and best practices.
Scholarship and Service to the University (approximately 20% of time)
- Participate in program and faculty committee meetings as applicable.
- Serve on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of the College and wider University.
- Produce scholarly research that leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals and actively participate in professional activities. Travel
- In addition to supporting the campus, occasional travel may be required to the University's global network of campuses.
- Examples of required travel include the annual CPS Graduation and Faculty Conference.
Qualifications:
Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) Management, Psychology or a closely related field to Human Resources Management.
Evidence demonstrating a history of scholarly work and professional practice, including but not limited to, a track record of publications in reputable academic journals that have undergone peer review processes.
Substantial industry experience in or related to Human Resources Management, preferably at a senior or executive level, with a demonstrated ability to translate practical experience into the classroom.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
- Experience in online or hybrid teaching modalities.
Experience with industry partnerships, consulting, or collaborations.
