About the Opportunity

The Russell J. Call Children's Center is located on Boston's Northeastern University campus. We are a full day preschool program for the children of faculty and staff of Northeastern University. The Children's Center's philosophy is based on blending a variety of early childhood educational philosophies and approaches, including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Constructivist. Children at the Center are viewed as active participants in their own learning, making choices and seeking out experiences that further their development. Educators at the Center strive to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports children as they learn and grow at their own pace through play-based and child-centered experiences. Educators at the Center believe in viewing each child as an individual, and they understand the importance of getting to know each child and meeting them where they are developmentally. Responsibilities:
  • Create secure, nurturing environment for preschool age children by building positive relationships with them, their families, and the other staff members.
  • Establish strong interpersonal communication with parents and staff.
  • Participate in constructive team approach to center issues.
  • Implement creative, appropriate curriculum.
  • Train and supervise college and high school student assistants
  • Substitute for team members in case of absence
  • Anticipate and respond to developmental needs of children through knowledge of early childhood education and by creating strong interpersonal relationships


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
  • Preschool Teacher Certification through the MA Department of Early Education and Care
  • 2 + years' experience as a Classroom Teacher
  • Must be able to comply with EEC regulations
  • Certificate of CPR and First Aid
  • To take course work as needed to meet performance goals and maintain EEC certification. Attend on and off-site workshops
