IT Security Analyst
James Madison University
JMU IT Security is accepting applications for the position of Security Analyst. JMU offers comprehensive benefit with focus on sustaining a healthy work life balance.
This position is primarily teleworked, but there are circumstances where the employee must be able to commute to onsite to JMU for mandatory meetings or projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze network, system, application, and account activity using logs, traffic, tools and other intelligence sources to detect active threats. Works as a part of the IT Security team to identify and respond to security incidents.
Qualifications:
-Proficient with Windows, Linux, and MacOS
-Analytical and adept in troubleshooting
-An understanding of security implications related to network, applications, email, endpoints, and servers
-Knowledge of common attacker tactics and techniques
-Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
-Ability to prepare and present formal/informal written/oral presentations of a technical nature
-Experience with Security Information and Event Monitoring systems and logging tools
-Experience with data loss prevention tools, malware analysis tools, and packet capture tools
-Knowledge of cloud security practices particularly with Microsoft 365
