Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Anthropology, and Tourism. The successful candidate will have expertise in Tourism and/or Hospitality Studies. The candidate will teach introductory and advanced level courses in tourism, hospitality, and related courses within the department. The successful candidate will also be expected to recruit and mentor students; supervise graduate theses and interns; as well as to contribute to the department’s outreach activities to the local business community. A strong commitment to teaching and an active program of research and publication are expected. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Education:
All applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Tourism, Hospitality, or Geography (ABD considered but Ph.D. must be completed by May 31, 2026)
Experience and Training (required):
- Collegiate teaching experience in one or more of the following: Tourism, Hospitality, Geography
- Ability to teach introductory and advanced level courses such as:
o Tourism Planning
o Tourism/Hospitality/Geography courses complementing existing department offerings.
- Practical/outreach experience in tourism and/or hospitality
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Scholarly activity in the field
- Events Planning experience and/or experience teaching an Events Planning course

Compensation and Employee Benefits
In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor for 2024-2025.
