Job Summary:
This is a position within International Academic Programs (IAP), a unit in The International Division, which serves as the central study abroad office at UW-Madison. IAP administers more than 300 campus-wide study abroad, domestic study away, & internship programs and annually sends over 2,900 UW-Madison students off-campus. This position is responsible for strategic oversight and management of the Wisconsin in Washington program. This position will provide staff supervision and coordinate with campus partners, including academic departments, to achieve program goals regarding student enrollment and outcomes, as well as faculty and alumni engagement.
The Assistant Director for Program Management will also have primary and supporting responsibilities for overseeing and managing various program management policies and processes including but not limited to provider contracts, program leader hiring and training, and health and safety protocols.
This position will also support the management of processes and programs related to domestic study away opportunities for UW-Madison students. As part of the overall portfolio of international opportunities available to students, domestic programs are an exciting subset in a wide variety of locations including U.S. territories, which increase access to life-changing education experiences for students, including international students, and focus on relevant global issues such as domestic diversity and social justice, migration, sustainability, and public health.
The Assistant Director for Program Management will also have primary and supporting responsibilities for overseeing and managing various program management policies and processes and may supervise staff.
Responsibilities: Contributes to international program development and management to ensure quality delivery of programs to students abroad. Advises students on opportunities and policies in support of the goal of preparing students for the global and interconnected world. May supervise staff.

Master's Degree required in relevant field
Qualifications:
Study abroad, domestic study away, experiential education, or international living experience required
Minimum three years of administrative experience in an international education or student services office required
Ability to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment
Demonstrated experience working independently with strong attention to detail, resourcefulness, and organizational skills to meet important deadlines in a high-traffic, high-demand environment
Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with diverse populations
Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

- 20% Advises students about international opportunities
- 30% Supports students and external partners through international experiences and cultural adjustment following policies, procedures, laws, and health and safety guidelines
- 10% Assists in the development and implementation of new international program initiatives
- 30% Works with unit, campus, and external partners on program development and improvement
- 10% Identifies, plans, and delivers international education programming
- In collaboration with office colleagues and partners across campus, assist in the development of new study abroad/away programs, as needed.
- Advocate across campus for the integration of domestic study away opportunities into the student academic experience, including marketing, communications and advancement efforts.
- Help develop, implement, and update procedures, policies, and materials in support of program management, including those specific to domestic study away programs.
- Participate in a rotation of being on call for study abroad/away emergencies
- Coordinate and collaborate on evaluating programs, site visits and program reviews, including travel, as needed.
- Work as part of a team to manage the work of the office related to specific study abroad/away program administration, including for the Wisconsin in Washington Program.
- Assignments may include but are not limited to: program marketing, recruitment, and outreach, administrative tasks, pre-departure preparation, student support, returned student and exchange student services, program planning, data report compilation.
- Support the overall processes & policies related to program management, which may include: managing program contracts & appointment letters, program leader recruitment, training & development, and managing program consortium-related tasks and duties.
