  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, Engineering or other related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years progressive experience in the field of information technology including at least two years of experience in Business and Technology Applications related work; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years progressive experience in the field of information technology including at least two years of experience in Business and Technology Applications related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The primary mission of the Enterprise Applications Services unit of Information Technology Services is the design, development, implementation and support of a suite of administrative and academic applications that are mission critical and widely used throughout the university. Consulting services are provided to users in assessing different approaches and addressing potential solutions in meeting demands for services. This group is responsible for exploring and implementing evolving technologies that will benefit the academic and administrative mission of the university. Organizational units include application development and management, database management, application administration, enterprise imaging, workflow and security and access privileges.

This position will be an ESA (Enterprise Solutions Architect) with an emphasis on Enterprise Applications. The role of an Enterprise Solution Architect is to lead the architecting of IT solution development and methodologies to meet the academic and operational needs of the University and ITS .

This is a technical position and will be expected to provide hands-on efforts with large and/or cross-divisional initiatives such as Project Kitty Hawk, Banner 9 Self-Service, third party integrations, custom applications, data warehousing, etc.

It is expected that this position will lead the development and implementation of playbooks for responding to acquisition requests and application integrations with the goal being to onboard new systems in an efficient manner. This will entail providing guidance and assistance to other areas in ITS as necessary.

Additionally, this position will be expected to work closely with the Office of Information Security in turning compliance requirements and policies into operational procedures that will ensure ITS service compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Solution Design and Architecture-
    • Develop and document architectural solutions, ensuring they align with enterprise standards and frameworks.
    • Design scalable, secure, and reliable systems that integrate with existing legacy data and systems.
    • Create and maintain architectural blueprints and detailed documentation.
  • Technical Team Collaboration and Engagement-
    • Work closely with development teams to ensure the architecture supports the current and future needs of the university.
    • Collaborate with database administrators and data experts to design data integration strategies.
    • Proactively engage with business stakeholders to gather and understand requirements, translating them into technical solutions.
    • Coordinate with project managers to ensure architectural components are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Assist in the creation of project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Technology Evaluation and Selection-
    • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance system capabilities and performance.
    • Conduct proof-of-concept initiatives to validate the feasibility of new solutions.
  • Integration Strategy and Implementation-
    • Design and implement integration solutions that connect new systems with legacy data and existing systems.
    • Ensure seamless data flow and synchronization across different platforms and applications.
    • Assist development/data teams with technical implementation/programming.
  • Governance and Best Practices-
    • Establish and enforce architectural standards and best practices across development and database teams.
    • Define and oversee the implementation of security protocols and policies to protect data integrity and privacy.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization-
    • In conjunction with Site Reliability Engineers, monitor system performance, identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks.
    • Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship-
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Enterprise Application teams.
    • Lead architectural review sessions and provide constructive feedback to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement and Learning-
    • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in enterprise architecture.
    • Participate in continuous professional development and training programs.
  • Team Support-
    • Assist development and database teams with operational work as schedule permits.
Suggested Salary Range
$118,000 - $120,000
