Job Description Summary

The Administrator of Student Accessibility Services (ASAS) is an integral role for Student Accessibility Services, ensuring the office in running efficiently and effectively. Serves as the first point of contact for Student Accessibility Services and advises students and families about the office policies/procedures while connecting them to the appropriate campus constituencies.

The ASAS will coordinate and oversee the Test Room. The Test Room is a designated area to assist faculty in facilitating academic accommodations for students. The ASAS serves as a liaison between Student Accessibility Services and faculty to assist in implementing academic accommodations. The ASAS informs and guides both students and faculty, educating both parties about the Test Room policies and procedures. The ASAS processes all Test Room request forms, confirms exam dates and times, and keeps the Test Room calendar updated. Confidentiality is essential due to the nature of information and services provided.

Essential Duties:

  • Answers phone and triages appropriately: scheduling all appointments (student and campus) for Student Accessibility Services staff and properly referring family, faculty, and staff phone calls.

  • Maintains all student appointments in calendar system.

  • Sends appointment reminders to students scheduled for the next business day.

  • Receives completed Test Room request forms and reviews each individual request to ensure the request is completed with accommodations listed.

  • Sends confirmation emails to faculty and students with directions, reminders, and specifics of the exam.

  • Maintains Test Room calendar to ensure no overbooking.

  • Collects exams for administration in Test Room.

  • After exams are completed, the ASAS assembles materials and coordinates return of exams accordingly to faculty.

  • Flex hours on Wednesday and during the week of finals may be necessary to allow for later exams.

  • Works with the Assistant Director on managing and hiring the proctors.

  • Act as main contact for proctors during exams and liaison between students and faculty during exams.

  • Responsible for collecting and keeping track of all note-sharer request forms.

  • Assists with undergraduate Academic Services operations as available including new student registration, assisting with large office projects, and participating in other all staff events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 1-3 years of related work experience.

  • The candidate must have excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to work with students, families, faculty, and staff to answer questions and provide guidance.

  • The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to work with students, faculty, staff, and families around sensitive and confidential issues related to documented disabilities.

  • This position requires excellent organization skills and multi-tasking skills. Knowledge in working with a diverse population.

  • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.

  • This position is highly self-directed.

Work Environment:

  • Office has peak busy times, namely the first 4-6 weeks of each semester and during mid-terms and finals.

  • This job requires constant communication via phone, email and in person with students, families, faculty, and staff.

  • Typical office work environment with extensive sitting and computer work.

  • This is a 10 month position (August though May).
