Job Details
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Responsible for ongoing recruitment of eligible participants for the program to meet caseload and program requirements; assist program leadership in reach programs goals and objectives.
- Provide academic assessment of participants, distribute information about post-secondary opportunities and re-entrance to a secondary educational program, and assist participants with post-secondary college applications and financial aid applications.
- Monitor student grades throughout the year to ensure their success and provide referral of tutoring services, as needed.
- Plan and conduct workshops, lessons, online programs, and presentations for students and/or parents and build and maintain relationships with students and parents (in-person and virtual), includes traveling to schools that participate in the program and home-visits.
- Maintain accurate data and documentation of all program participants and services and contribute to completing the Annual Performance Report (APR) for the U.S. Department of Education.
- Review and maintain student files and other documentation to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and federal guidelines.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise field trips to post-secondary institutions, cultural events, or career exploration opportunities.
- Assist with the application and writing process of TRIO grants.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with schools and community groups, includes extensive travel to target schools and agencies to conduct meetings and workshops with students, parents and/or school district personnel.
- Collaborate with internal and external campus partners, participate in TRIO related events, and serve on committees as needed.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education, advising, career programing, or related field.
- Experience managing and supervising teams.
- Experience planning and executing programming and events.
- Experience working with programs for income dependent and/or first-generation students and ability to effectively advise and advocate for those students from the target population.
- Experience in grant writing, administration, and/or grant management.
- Experience in budgeting, planning and management.
- Ability to navigate computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Suite, and other products.
- Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, equity, and access to higher education.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to participating schools or organizations ; some nights and weekends may be required.
- Master’s degree in education/education leadership, counseling, student affairs, or related field.
- Higher education experience.
- Experience planning and executing large-scale programing and events.
- Experience working with 6-12th grade youth or post-secondary students in the areas of academic advising, career exploration, college preparation.
- Knowledge of TRIO or other higher education academic programs and support services and effective practices supporting student recruitment, retention, and development.
- Experience using design software (such as Canva or Photoshop) to create outreach materials.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Normal office environment. Some travel and evening/weekend work is required throughout the year.
