Job Description

The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer position to serve within the Department of Athletics. This is a full-time, exempt staff, 10-month position, within the UIndy Athletics department with an undetermined sporting assignment.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve on a team of full-time athletic trainers employed by the University of Indianapolis, under the direction of physicians from the Community Health Network.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will have the opportunity to serve as a preceptor and take on clinical educational responsibilities within the University’s accredited Professional Graduate Athletic Training Program.

Responsibilities - Assistant Athletic Trainer
  • Prepares and submits secondary insurance claims for athletic injuries
  • Facilitates communication between team physicians, professional staff, coaches, student-athletes, parents, and administrators
  • Coordinates student-athlete appointments with team physicians and physical therapists
  • Maintains high morale among athletic training staff, athletic training students, student-athletes, coaches, and administrators
  • Maintains a high level of quality documentation within an electronic medical records system
  • Carries out additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine
Qualifications - Assistant Athletic Train
  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred)
  • Clean or acceptable driving record required
  • 2-3 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer required
  • Collegiate experience preferred
  • BOC Athletic Training Certification required
  • Indiana State Licensure (or eligible) required
  • CPR/AED Certification required
