Job Description

Summary :

Reporting to the Assistant Director in the MBA & Graduate Programs Office, the Retention Coordinator supports services to students aimed at enhancing retention and academic performance of the MS Analytics (MSBA, MSDMA and MSHRA) students in the Feliciano School of Business. Working closely with faculty and other student support units, the Retention Coordinator helps engage students, ensuring they stay on track towards graduation and towards achieving their career objectives .

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serving as a point of contact for at-risk students, offering tailored support and using data to inform interventions and monitor student progress.

  • Maintaining and monitoring student academic records and progress.

  • Tracking student enrollment and participation in experiential learning courses or internships.

  • Providing personalized academic advising to continuing students, assisting with registration and enrollment.

  • Assist international students in adjusting to cultural and educational systems different from their home countries and familiarize them with the university’s facilities, rules, and regulations

  • Support with new student enrollment outreach and course registration

  • Developing and administering student surveys to gather feedback on program effectiveness and student needs.

  • Assisting faculty and staff in identifying retention trends and researching best practices.

  • Acts as a liaison for academic and student affairs support services such as tutoring, CAPS, OGE, Career Services, or Red Hawk Central

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

The Retention Coordinator will work 20-25 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday. However flexibility will be required if virtual open houses or other events are conducted on a weekend.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience within higher education or in fields directly related to the functions of the position.

  • Skilled in cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred:
  • Empathic listening, problem solving, and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from students in a pleasant and professional manner

  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to handle a large variety of details and to work with all levels of a team.

  • Skilled in working collaboratively with a team as well as independently.

  • Experience working or volunteering with international population

  • Ability to perform and excel in both online/digital and in-person environments.

  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems such as Banner, DegreeWorks, Workday.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data.

  • Proficient in the use of e‐mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
