Description

The Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, assistant professor position to begin August 2025. Applicants should have a strong background and scholarly record in the area of interpersonal relationships. We are especially interested in candidates whose research considers contextual influences on couples' relationship well-being and/or the links between interpersonal relationships and health. A willingness to teach advanced statistical methods at the graduate level is also preferable. The successful applicant will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, conduct research, obtain external research funding, and complement existing department research areas.

We are an interdisciplinary program focusing on individual, relationship, and family development within varying ecological contexts. Faculty research interests include child and adolescent development, parent-child relationships, romantic relationships, aging, health and health behaviors, culture, poverty, intervention, and public policy. We have a vital program with approximately 400 undergraduate majors, 40 doctoral students, and 19 faculty operating in a collegial and supportive environment

Qualifications

Review of applications will begin October 4th, 2024 and continue until the position is filled. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in human development, family studies, psychology, sociology or a related social science.

Application Instructions

Application materials must be submitted electronically via Interfolio. Candidates should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, and up to 3 preprints/reprints of representative publications. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their relevant experiences and skillsets in supporting academic success of all students in their application (e.g., their specific approaches for teaching and mentoring). Candidates also must arrange to have three letters of recommendation uploaded separately to the application site. A background check will be conducted on applicant selected.
