Job Title: Post-Award Specialist

Job Summary:
The major function of this position is to provide comprehensive post-award support for basic science awards in the Department of Orthopedics. This role will manage the full lifecycle of the post-award process, from project set-up to close-out, for all basic science awards. This position may also support clinical trials and other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Intermediate Level:
- Support faculty with post-award management of basic science grants and contracts, including providing monthly financial reports and ongoing guidance
- Manage the entire process for post-award of basic science awards, from project set-up to closeout, including performing ongoing financial reviews and as-needed journal entries, payroll expense transfers, procurement-related duties, etc.
- Conduct monthly or quarterly financial review meetings with all faculty who serve as Principal Investigator on basic science projects
- Maintain comprehensive electronic files of all post-award work, and a current log of all assigned duties
- Help streamline post-award management and support for faculty across the basic science, translational, and clinical research spectrum
- Able to independently manage post-award management duties
- Able to self-manage priorities and be proactive in resolving issues
- Centralized oversight and tracking of all post-award activities
- Provide reporting to senior leadership as needed
- Lead all cross-training of team member in post-award activies
- Assist with other training duties, including pre-award, on an as-needed basis
- Ongoing projects to streamline post-award activities and improve project management
- Support Departmental leadership in strategic planning for research administrative support in a rapidly growing research environment
Remote – this role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States.

- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 1-year professional post-award experience working in government, healthcare, non-profit and/or academic research administration

- Minimum 3 years professional post-award experience working in government, healthcare, non-profit and/or academic research administration

Preferred Qualifications:
- Math and accounting skills to be able to build/revise budgets and reconcile expenses
- Demonstrated experience analyzing financial reports to manage sponsored projects
- Demonstrated understanding of basic post-award accounting
- Experience using CU Data
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with InfoEd Proposal Development System or similar grant management software
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Ability to effectively navigate multiple studies and prioritize appropriately
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as
Intermediate: $52,312- $66,541
Senior: $56,554- $71,936
Principal: $65,037- $82,727
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
