Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience
Certificates and Licenses
  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience. 3+ years of web design/development expertise, including 2+ years of experience with WordPress and/or Drupal, and fluency with CSS3, SASS, and HTML5.

Position Description

The Arts & Humanities Administrative Services Group supports departments and centers in the Arts & Humanities Division. This position is responsible for providing applications/web development support, and training staff in various database applications and website maintenance and updating for departments and centers across the division.

Assists and advises departments and centers, and designs, develops, tests, debugs, and documents high-quality websites and applications, adhering to University policies, conventions, and best practices.

Trains staff in various database applications and website maintenance and updating for departments and centers across the division.

Advises units about best practices for use experience, site-flow, micro-interactions, accessibility, etc., conduct usability and user-experience testing and needs analysis.

Creates styling for WordPress and/or Drupal templates, maintaining visual style and Harvard branding guidelines.

Stays current on standards for web usability, coding, CSS, scripting languages, browser compatibility, and accessibility issues, with flexibility for learning new skills as needed.

In conjunction with the Director of Finance and Administration, handles requests for site changes using a wide variety of web technologies.

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
