The Department of Computer Science at Calvin
University invites applicants for two full-time, tenure-track
faculty positions to begin August 2022 and strongly encourages
applications from women and other under-represented groups.
Applicants should have a PhD (or be near completion)
in computer science, data science or a related area, or have a
master’s degree and 5 years of related experience. The department
is particularly interested in expanding its expertise in the areas
of data science, data analytics & visualization, and machine
learning, but individuals from all computing-related areas are
encouraged to apply.
Calvin faculty members are expected to demonstrate
excellent teaching ability and have a track record of (or strong
potential for) scholarly work.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT AND ITS PROGRAMS
Calvin’s Department of Computer Science features
supportive colleagues,
excellent facilities maintained by a full-time
system administrator, disciplined students, a
dynamic colloquium series, and
strong undergraduate programs in computer science and data science,
including a BCS
major accredited by ABET, and a new MS
program in data science under development. The department supports
programs that promote gender inclusion, including our 50%
Initiative , Women in Computing organization,
and our Girls Who Code clubs.

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES
The standard teaching load is 21–24 hours.
Faculty are expected to grow in Reformed Christian commitment,
pursue an active scholarly agenda, teach effectively, and serve the
university, department, students, and the wider community.
