The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at The University of Tennessee is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to join the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) for a nine-month position (with a summer administrative stipend) beginning August 1, 2025. We are looking for a leading scholar with the training, experience, and expertise in Higher Education Administration, specifically to mentor Ph.D. and Ed.D. students and coordinate the Higher Education Administration Ph.D. program and lead the development of a new Ed.D. program in the same discipline.

Duties and responsibilities include:

▪ Coordinating the Higher Education Administration Ph.D. program and leading the development of an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration;

▪ Maintaining a cutting-edge scholarly research agenda, including actively seeking and securing external funding;

▪ Providing mentorship for Educational Leadership and Policy Ph.D. and Ed.D. students;

▪ Supporting graduate programs in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through teaching and advising;

▪ Participating in professional associations at the local, state, regional, and national/international levels;

▪ Providing services to the department, college, university, and other educational/professional organizations;

▪ Collaborating with college and department faculty, staff, and students;

▪ Having a strong commitment to the mission of the university, college, and department.

The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences is a multidisciplinary unit with 90 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, housed in eight departments. Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is a thriving department with more than 200 graduate students and 20 full-time faculty working with programs in K-12 education, higher education, adult and continuing education, and evaluation, statistics, and methodology, and a growing undergraduate minor in leadership studies.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

· All candidates must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in higher education or other related fields that include a focus on elements within higher education and/or higher education administration;

· Evidence of teaching excellence in graduate level programs;

· Demonstrated leadership in graduate programs through coordination experience, curricular development, or student mentoring;

· Demonstrated commitment and ability to effectively work with a diverse group of collaborators;

· A willingness to plan/design, develop, and deliver instructions both in face-to-face classroom formats and via technology and the internet.

Candidates for the rank of Associate Professor must:

· Meet the qualifications for being an Associate Professor within UTK’s faculty handbook and the ELPS bylaws;

· Have an established research agenda and record of scholarly activity in the field of higher education;

· Show successful experience securing external funding .

Candidates for the rank of Full Professor must:

· Meet the qualifications for being a Full Professor within UTK’s faculty handbook and the ELPS bylaws;

· Have an extensive record of scholarly productivity in the field of higher education;

· Have an extensive record of extramural funding, which includes being a lead investigator.

Preferred qualifications include:

· Experience mentoring Ed.D. and Ph.D. students;

· Experience developing, administering, and coordinating Ed.D. programs;

· Experience with distance learning and teaching methodologies;

· Experience in chairing Ed.D. and/or Ph.D. committees;

· Demonstrated ability to work collegially with others, including faculty, staff, and students.
