ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Demonstrate knowledge of and strong commitment to the mission and operation of OASIS and FSYSS .
- Demonstrate proficiencies in effectively and professionally collaborating with stakeholders both inside and beyond the university community.
- Demonstrate pedagogical expertise in working with adolescents and young adults relating to Natural Science education.
- Provide leadership and direction for all OASIS Natural Science support functions and/or other enrichment programs/workshops that aim to encourage students to improve their Natural Science skills.
- Assume full responsibility for facilitating and providing assistance that is tailored to students’ specific Natural Science learning needs.
- Participate in a variety of initiatives to accommodate programs and experiences relative to student academic success in Natural Science.
- Create and revise techniques for follow-up/follow-through for students to ensure that they are receiving the full benefit of the services rendered.
- Collaborate with Natural Science Instructors and Administrators to assist and guide the academic success of students who are academically struggling from a student support perspective.
- Be an active participant in the professional Natural Science community of the university, Ohio and nationally.
- Contribute to the completion and submission of all required forms and reports required to meet procedures and timelines established by the Director of OASIS .
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of OASIS .
- Knowledge of university systems, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of success programs centered on Natural Science
- Knowledge of working assimilate new systems and information; with various institutional and noninstitutional technologies and data systems such as D2L, Banner, Navigate & Upswing.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products and basic office equipment computers and MS Office software.
- Excellent customer service skills geared toward students;
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attentive to details and listens well to the needs of students;
- Self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to work independently with limited supervision;
- Maintains resiliency under pressure and displays the ability to de-escalate and provide suitable intervention tactics when appropriate;
- Ability to explain options clearly;
- Ability to interact and perform work responsibilities in a professional manner with co-workers and students;
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing duties and demands in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to use absolute discretion when maintaining sensitive, confidential materials; and possess a familiarity with FERPA and 504 plans.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science or a related field
- Fundamental training in student-centered programming, academic and/or college readiness geared towards students.
- Two years of teaching Natural Science or a related field and/or leadership role experience in an academic support service environment or like-structure.
- Masters’ Degree in Natural Science or a related field
- Membership in a Natural Science or a related organization (Region, State, or National level)
- Educational work with student-centered programs, community, and college resources
- Natural Science Credential or Certification
