The Department of Sociology at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor in the area of health/medical and/or environmental sociology to begin fall semester 2025. The
successful candidate will study contemporary topics in health/medical and/or environmental sociology
through the lens of race and ethnicity using quantitative methods. Their work should have strong
potential for external funding. The position begins with the fall semester 2025. The university is home to
strong networks of environmental, health/medical, and race/ethnicity researchers, with collaborative
opportunities through Vanderbilt’s Centers for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies and
Research on Inequality and Health; Programs in African American and Diaspora Studies, Asian Studies,
and Climate and Environmental Studies, and the Department of Medicine, Health, and Society.
