A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time exempt Assistant Director of Student Outreach & Wellness on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position will provide behavioral health crisis and case management assistance to residential and online ATSU students.
Position Overview:
- Seeking a student-driven professional, passionate about student outreach and wellness; to include case management, crisis intervention, health prevention, and promotion.
- The position is based on the ATSU Arizona-Mesa Campus.
- Provides behavioral health crisis intervention and case management services.
- Share the vision and mission of the department and the university, is a student advocate, and support a multicultural and diverse campus environment.
- Collaborates with various department, campus, and university constituencies to strategically plan health and wellness programming efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide behavioral health crisis intervention and case
management services to residential and online ATSU
students.
- Assist off-campus students to access resources for mental
health providers in their clinical training sites.
- Provide information on obtaining community emergency mental
health services and/or mental health referral information to
students via print, in-person seminars, and electronic
formats.
- Serves as the initial contact and follow-up contact for AZ and
CA colleges and programs on case management-related
matters.
- Collaborate with the Behavioral Health & Wellness
Counselors to mutually plan, assess, and implement goals, projects,
resources, and support programs.
- Plan and implement innovative and comprehensive, cutting-edge,
evidenced-based, and holistic wellness education, prevention
programs, and services for students.
- Support institution-wide health promotion and well-being
efforts.
- Inspire positive behaviors with contemporary marketing,
communications, and social norming.
- Communicate effectively with the Director of Behavioral Health
and Wellness on all department activities and issues.
- Collaborate with the other Behavioral Health & Wellness
Counselors to mutually plan, assess, and implement goals, projects,
resources, and support programs.
- Complete training and maintain certification for teaching
education programs such as Mental Health First Aid and Question,
Persuade, and Refer.
- Co-lead the Mental Health Ambassador program for all ATSU
Students, Lead AZ and CA. This program trains students to be
peer-support for peers as well as joining BH&W in programming,
events, and addressing important topics surrounding mental health
at ATSU.
- May provide counseling services to ATSU residential
students.
- Guarantee 100% confidentiality of student records/information
(exception where dictated by law or during threat of
safety).
- Maintain complete and accurate confidential clinical
records.
- Participate on department/University committees as
assigned.
- Responsible for developing, updating, and presenting
presentations that meet compliance with the Drug and Alcohol Misuse
Prevention Program (DAMPP) required by federal law.
- Responsible for developing, updating, and presenting
presentations that meet compliance with federal Title IX
requirements for the prevention of sexual violence.
- Utilizes data to assess the needs of programming and assesses
programming effectiveness and outcomes.
- Provide regular metric reports on student use of services and
programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director or AV.
Education & Experience:
- Master's degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent.
- Licensure or license eligible in the state of residence preferred.
- One to two years of experience in wellness education, prevention, and health promotion (preferably in higher education).
- Wellness programming to include a multi-dimensional perspective of wellness.
- Promotion and marketing skills to gain student involvement in wellness initiatives to include drug/alcohol prevention.
- Skills to obtain and analyze data.
- May have clinical experience and skills and provide mental health services.
The salary range for this position is 53,600 to 67,000 based on education and experience.
