About the Job

This position is part-time and will support the teaching mission of the Accounting Department at the Carlson School of Management. Course topics could include the following at both the graduate and undergraduate level: Taxation, Enterprise Risk Management, Business Law, Intro to Financial Reporting, and Strategic Management Accounting.

Courses are offered during the day as well as in the evening. Duties and responsibilities include course material preparation (i.e., syllabus, handouts, homework assignments, quizzes, exams, etc.); textbook selection, course delivery, evaluation of students, record keeping, management and supervision of teaching assistants, office hours, etc.

Qualifications

Teaching Specialist: Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years teaching experience in a closely related field.

Senior Teaching Specialist: Bachelor’s degree plus 6-8 years teaching experience in a closely related industry and/or academic field, of which 4 or more years must be formal teaching.

Lecturer: Terminal degree OR master’s degree plus 5 years of related industry and/or academic experience.

Senior Lecturer: Terminal degree plus 10 years of related industry and/or academic experience OR master’s degree plus 15 years of related industry and/or academic experience.

About the Department

The Accounting Department at the Carlson School of Management consists of 12 tenure-track faculty members and nine full-time senior lecturers committed to excellence in teaching and research. The Carlson School Department of Accounting offers a stimulating learning environment with outstanding synergies across paradigms. Students in accounting develop an understanding of accounting in its relationship to other disciplines such as economics, finance, psychology, and sociology. Some of the most respected scholars and researchers in accounting serve as faculty members in our department and for the program. Current faculty research covers such diverse areas as information economics, decision-making processes, market efficiency, and security valuation.

Pay and Benefits



Pay Range: This position is paid $3,200 per credit with the total payment dependent on the number of credits assigned to the instructor. Course assignments will be made depending on education/qualifications/experience.
