Summary:
The Director of Assessment and Accreditation reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (SVPAA). The Director is responsible for leading the College in the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to educational effectiveness through continuous quality improvement processes. The DAA will promote a culture of assessment by working closely with faculty, department chairs, deans, and administrators to systematically define and assess student learning outcomes at the institutional, program, and course levels, as well as measure progress toward academic programs’ key performance indicators.
This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Work closely with members of the Academic Affairs leadership team to foster and sustain a culture of assessment and educational effectiveness within academic programs.
- Enhance, implement, and oversee a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to educational effectiveness that promotes student success and achievement in the classroom; student acquisition of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes; and graduates’ subsequent success and achievement in graduate-professional school programs and their professional careers.
- Champion the implementation of educational effectiveness and assessment initiatives explicitly outlined in NECHE interim fifth-year reports and decennial self-studies related to educational effectiveness.
- Prepare and disseminate relevant data to department chairs and deans, and other stakeholders in academic affairs, to enhance educational effectiveness in every academic program and within the division. Academic program data include longitudinal measures such as admission and enrollment statistics; retention, graduation, and employment rates; student enrollment demographics; course performance statistics (e.g., DFW rates); student course evaluation statistics; and the findings from academic program exit and first destination surveys.
- Collaborate with faculty on an inclusive process to periodically examine and revise institutional level learning outcomes including those associated with the college’s General Education program; support academic programs with the development and assessment of program outcomes; and support faculty with the development and assessment of course outcomes.
- Lead the Division, department chairs, and faculty in meeting or exceeding regional accreditation standards and those associated with externally reviewed programs.
- Oversee the annual and five-year program review processes in Academic Affairs and align these reviews with NECHE’s Standards for Accreditation. Support academic programs in the development of their annual program review, five-year program reviews, and specialized accreditations (e.g., systematically provide program related data to department chairs as required by the five-year program review process).
- Co-author narratives for inclusion in regional accreditation documents (e.g., Interim Fifth-Year Report, decennial self-study) and the College’ website related to student learning, educational effectiveness, student outcome measures, academic programs, etc., and participate in accreditation related events, activities, and visits.
- Support the SVPAA in conducting research and analyses on a wide range of educational topics including student outcomes, success, and achievement; academic related grant writing initiatives and special projects.
- Coordinate periodic faculty workshops on academic assessment and educational effectiveness topics (e.g., assessment of learning outcomes, annual and five-year program reviews, direct and indirect assessment methods, design, alignment, and use of rubrics; creation of curriculum maps).
- Assist Student Affairs and Student Support Services in developing and measuring co-curricular contributions to student learning and development.
- Actively participate in periodic, professional development activities, at the state and national levels, which promote and facilitate the acquisition of assessment best practices.
- Serve on relevant institutional committees (e.g., Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
Job Requirements:
- Graduate degree related to assessment in higher education, teaching and learning, program evaluation, measurement, research methods, educational leadership, and/or related field(s).
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience with advancing educational assessment initiatives and/or academic program accreditation.
- Demonstrated success in using relevant technologies and applications for collecting, managing, and evaluating assessment data, and for advancing assessment initiatives (e.g., learning outcomes assessment technologies, course evaluations, surveys).
