    St. Edward's University invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Employer Engagement and Internship Development. The Associate Director, in collaboration with the Senior Director, is primarily responsible for the administration of employer relations. The Associate Director will strategically cultivate and strengthen employer relations with and between employers, students, alumni, and faculty/staff to maximize student and alumni employment in accordance with the university's Strategic Plan 2027. The Associate Director will oversee outreach initiatives and programming around internship development and employer engagement. This position reports to the Senior Director for Career and Professional Development.

    Required qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Minimum of four years of experience a corporate or university career services environment, including college recruiting from a higher education or business perspective.
    • Experience in sales, marketing, strategic planning, and with knowledge of Handshake and CRM systems.
    • Dynamic, professional demeanour with exceptional organization, written, and public speaking skills; strong leadership and management experience; motivated and enthusiastic work style.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exhibiting strategic thinking, sound judgement, initiative, and flexibility.
    • Strong writing, presentation, and oral communication skills.
    • Strong technical and organizational skills.

    • Ability to work with a broad range of internal and external constituents including students, employers, alumni, faculty, and staff.
    • Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements.
    • Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.

    Preferred qualifications:
    • Master's degree in higher education, human resources, business, or related field.
    • Awareness of legal issues as they pertain to employment practices within the US.
    • Experience in grant writing and/or securing corporate donations.
    • Understanding and appreciation of the liberal arts.


    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Employer Engagement
    • Actively pursue and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and professional associations for recruiting purposes, including networking with employers (local, state, and nation-wide) to ensure repeat recruiting visits for internships, jobs, and professional opportunities.
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with new organizations that historically have had little or no interaction with CAPD and/or experience with hiring our students and graduates. Connect these entities with the appropriate resources and staff at CAPD and/or the university.
    • Advise and counsel employers on effective recruitment strategies, including campus recruitment, Handshake postings, internships, career fairs, and networking opportunities.
    • Organize and oversee employer-related events such as career fairs, job fairs, career treks, recruitment tabling, lunch and learns, coffee chats, and on-campus interviews.
    • Develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies to attract campus recruiting partners, including setting the annual recruiting calendar.
    • Establish and cultivate relationships with graduate/professional schools.
    • Maintain an understanding of local and national employment market trends and their impact on hiring college students and graduates.
    Career and Professional Development Office Leadership
    • Provide regular updates to the Career Coaching team and faculty/staff on employer relations and recruiting trends.
    • In collaboration with the Senior Director, develop and execute policies and procedures to ensure a high-quality recruiting that meets the needs of employers, students, campus partners, and alumni.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Director on site visits to current and prospective recruiting partners and represent CAPD at various meetings and events.
    • Serve as the point of contact between Handshake and the University.
    • Manage donor-funded internships and off-campus work study in partnership with the Senior Director.
    • Collect, interpret, and share data on employer relations and student/faculty internship/job needs.
    Faculty and Staff Collaboration
    • Network with faculty and staff to promote employer-related opportunities, integrating them into relevant academic and campus activities to enhance student engagement and career development.
    • Develop Handshake training sessions and content for faculty, staff, and on campus employer partners.
    • Become knowledgeable about the university's programs and majors to develop. programming and recruitment events that reflect Edward's diverse academic offerings.
    Additional
    • Occasionally work weekends and evenings, especially during peak recruiting seasons.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to advance the goals and objectives of CAPD and the university.
