The Warrior Community seeks a full-time faculty member for the College of Arts and Sciences. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry will be responsible for (a) developing and teaching courses in chemistry, including Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, (b) mentoring and advising students from a variety of programs, (c) collaborating with faculty colleagues to achieve the Institution’s Strategic Plan, and (d) maintaining chemical storage and waste disposal. Excellence in teaching is valued at the highest level, and evidence of commitment to applied learning is required. The successful candidate will work closely with all life science programs at Indiana Tech and teach courses that support life science and engineering programs. The position includes teaching four courses per semester assigned by the Dean and holding eight office hours per week.

 

This is a tenure-track, 9-month position teaching in face-to-face delivery. Additional responsibilities include professional development, student development, and service to the College of Arts and Sciences. Participation in student recruiting and retention initiatives and supporting the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Indiana Institute of Technology are expected. Availability over the summer months is required. This faculty position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

 

A Master’s degree is required, a doctorate preferred, in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field. College-level teaching experience and research experience in chemistry or a closely related field is preferred. Experience teaching chemistry is required.  

 

Demonstration of the ability to work with a diverse student population, and demonstration of developing effective relationships with students that prepare students for academic and career success are necessary. Applicants should be able to use technology effectively in all aspects of their work, including teaching.
