Position Summary:

The Academic Program Specialist works within the Office of Education at the UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) and assists in the administration and daily operations of the Ob/Gyn rural residency training track, the Ob/Gyn global residency training track, and the Ob/Gyn Simulation Training Program. This individual reports to the Education Program Manager to collaboratively ensure the ongoing accreditation and success of the training programs.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Education or a related medical field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as database systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in Graduate Medical Education (GME) or Medical Student Education (UME) in administration at an academic health center.
- Experience with medical simulation.
- Experience in sales, marketing, and/or budget procedures.

- Ability to work independently and in a team setting with other staff, residents, faculty, rural hospital staff and physicians, and other departments in the UWHC and SMPH system.

Prefix assignment is determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 7 years' experience is required for appointment at the senior level.

Additional Information:

Some in-state and out-of-state traveling will be required to meet as needed with rural partner hospitals and to attend national conferences. Must provide own transportation or a valid driver's license and eligibility for Car Fleet usage is necessary.
