TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR - MANAGEMENT

The Management Department in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek applicants whose research interests are broadly related to human capital resources (such as how organizations compete through people), with training in human resources, organizational behavior, strategic management, or closely related areas, being particularly relevant. Priority will be given to candidates who seek to be engaged with the Department’s human resource programs, centers, and courses.

The Management Department contains a highly productive and collaborative group of scholars with expertise in human resources, organizational behavior, strategic management, innovation, and entrepreneurship. For 2023, the Department ranked 6th in research productivity in top journals. Opportunities to connect with leading companies and executives exist through four centers housed in the Management Department: the Riegel and Emory Center for HR Research, the Center for Executive Succession, the Faber Entrepreneurship Center, and the Smartstate Center for Innovation and Commercialization. Current tenure-track faculty include: Paul Bliese, Laura Cardinal, Edwyna Hill, Audrey Korsgaard, Mark Maltarich, Lynn McFarland, Anthony Nyberg, Robert Ployhart, Donald (DJ) Schepker, Adam Steinbach, Karoline Summerville, Scott Turner, and Patrick Wright. The Department is also home to a number of distinguished executives and practitioners serving as professional track faculty. The Darla Moore School and University of South Carolina are highly collegial, as Management faculty work with faculty members from International Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management Science, Marketing, and Psychology departments; among others. The environment is inclusive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating.

The Darla Moore School of Business provides a vibrant, highly supportive, and diverse research environment. The Darla Moore School of Business is located on the University of South Carolina’s main campus in Columbia, SC (https://sc.edu/visit/explore-columbia/index.php). The School is housed in a state of the art facility that offers an attractive balance of natural beauty and technological innovation. Columbia is a medium-sized city with a number of cultural amenities and attractions for many lifestyles usually only found in much larger cities (https://www.experiencecolumbiasc.com/things-to-do/). Located in the center of the state, Columbia is only 2 hours from sandy beaches and Charleston, 2 hours from Asheville and the Smoky Mountains, 1.5 hours from Greenville, 1.5 hours from Charlotte, and 3 hours from Atlanta. Columbia’s mild weather offers year-round outdoor opportunities and is adjacent to Lake Murray (http://www.lakemurraycountry.com/), a major tourist destination with approximately 650 miles of shoreline.

Required Education and Experience:

The position will require a doctoral degree by the start date of employment in management or a related field, the ability to conduct high-quality research that can fit within the highly collaborative research community of human resources, organizational behavior, and strategic management scholars, and a demonstrated record or the potential to publish consistently in top-tier scholarly journals commensurate with faculty rank. We seek applicants whose research interests are broadly related to human capital resources (such as how organizations compete through people), with training in human resources, organizational behavior, strategic management, or closely related areas, being particularly relevant. Assistant and Associate Professor levels will be considered, but applicants for consideration at the rank of Associate Professor will be limited to those with an exceptional record of research, teaching, and service, and years of relevant experience consistent with University policy. All faculty searches are subject to the availability of funding.

Application Process: To be considered in our initial review, candidates must submit applications to http://uscjobs.sc.edu (FAC00128PO24) to include cover letter and CV. Letters of recommendation must come directly from the references and not from the position applicant. Letters of recommendation and three (3) samples of research should be emailed directly to DMSB.MGMT@moore.sc.edu. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
