Description
The Department of Art and Art History at the University of Rochester invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to teach the history of art, architecture, material culture and /or visual culture with a focus on South Asia. Preference will be given to applicants whose research focuses on film, performance and/or gender and sexuality studies. Scholars working on any time period are invited to apply.
The referenced pay range of $90,000 – $94,000 represents the full base range of pay for this job. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on experience and expertise of the individual and equity considerations.

Qualifications
Candidates should be able to teach a range of courses including historical surveys and visual studies courses for undergraduate majors and non-majors as well as specialized seminars for upper-level majors and graduate students in the University's Graduate Program in Visual and Cultural Studies. Applicants should have a PhD in Art History or a related field and have defended their dissertation by August 1, 2025.
