Job Description Summary
Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach material from the curriculum in accordance with course design and guidelines
• Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes
• Provide regular and timely feedback to students
• Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining contact with students, offering assistance to absent students, and working to promote student satisfaction
• Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
• Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies
• Promptly communicate issues of concern with the departmental leadership
• Provide feedback to Subject Matter Expert and/or Department leadership regarding course content and student learning, as part of the program’s continuous improvement process.
• Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
• Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum qualification:
• Applicants must possess one of the following degrees from an accredited school: PhD, EdD, ThM, MDiv, and/or MA in a qualifying area.
• Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
• Proven organizational skills and an ability to complete required tasks, both timely and accurately, with minimal supervision
• Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, LMS, and the Internet
• Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level
