Job Description Summary
Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1. Serve primarily as supervisors and readers for dissertations and theses for the graduate English programs. Other course load may be assigned as enrollment allows.
2. Teaching material from the approved curriculum in accordance with an assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
3. Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
4. Provide regular and timely feedback to students.
5. Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining productive contact with students and by getting in touch with and offering assistance to absent students.
6. Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
7. Motivate students to participate in all aspects of the educational process actively.
8. Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
9. Maintain university standards regarding course activity, emails, grading, and communication with Instructional Mentor and students.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
- Candidates must hold a minimum of a Ph.D. in English or a
related field.
- All degrees must be from an institution accredited by an
accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of
Education.
- Applicant must demonstrate advanced academic engagement in
publications, scholarly presentations, and/or scholarly research
beyond a dissertation.
- Applicants must demonstrate a personal faith commitment to the
university’s evangelical Christian purpose.
- Full adherence to the evangelical mission and doctrine of
Liberty University.
- Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques
and student-centered methods of instruction.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to complete
assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to
communicate effectively with students with a wide range of
skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, and
problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated strength or potential in teaching at the college
level.
