We are Harper College…the college in your community.
The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago.
Harper College is now one of the nation’s premier community colleges and one of the largest, serving approximately 29,000 students annually in Chicago’s northwest suburbs. QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree with study in communications, English, journalism, world languages, or equivalent. Portfolio of writing, editing and/or SEO projects required.
Experience: 1-3 years of relevant professional writing/editing experience required.
Experience performing search engine optimization and working in BrightEdge, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, SiteImprove or similar preferred.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and partners across the college to maximize user acquisition while creating engaging, impactful and efficient web content that is accessible for all users. The SEO Specialist has an editor’s eye, is comfortable working with data, and wants to help us “win” in a competitive marketplace.
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION
Identifies opportunities to improve search engine performance using data platforms, including BrightEdge, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, BigQuery and SiteImprove.
Meets with BrightEdge representatives bi-weekly to collaborate on SEO projects.
Works with developers to implement technical SEO recommendations.
CONTENT MARKETING
Works with campus partners to develop new web content and update existing web content.
Repurposes and cross-posts content from other sources, such as email marketing, news releases and brochures, to key websites.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Marketing Services provides strategic direction for all of Harper's communication efforts. The office is the steward of the Harper Brand identity and manages the content of the College's official print publications, the main web site and key social media sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
GENERAL
- Assists with the general maintenance of the Harper College
website, including performing routine updates and handling client
requests.
- Assists with digital accessibility initiatives by advocating
for the use of succinct and widely understood language.
- Works with and mentors student employees.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
