Summary of Job Duties and

Teach four classes per year and mentor/supervise students/student workers in gallery and studio areas. Maintain digital makerspaces and advocate to strengthen digital humanities in department/college; maintain health and safety equipment and procedures.

Maintain digital makerspaces and advocate to strengthen digital humanities in department/college; maintain health and safety equipment and procedures.
- Teaching two introductory/foundation level courses each semester with a primary focus on digital art and design practices, while also being open to other foundational art areas as needed.
- The technician oversees and trains student workers in the department's digital makerspace, which involves lab management and safety training, strengthening our involvement with digital humanities.
- The technician will oversee the students who work in the makerspace, co-teach with faculty on training for workflow and machine use, develop methodologies of the digital makerspace that integrate well into departmental areas.
- Train student workers to run the digital makerspace and proctor the lab.
- Maintain departmental studio equipment and facilities.
- Training, teaching and supervision of student interns and work study students as assigned.
- Maintain health and safety equipment and procedures.
- Assist gallery director in exhibition installations and with day-to-day operations of the University Galleries.
- The departmental technician assists with training/teaching students the proper practices and handling of artworks and management of these works.
- Teach student workers and interns to develop valuable soft-trade skills in museum/gallery through exhibition management, preparatory skills, and collection management.
- Oversee course-related use of the exhibition spaces and technology, permanent collection objects, and objects on loan to the University Galleries.
- Assist with educational events/tours, exhibition receptions, symposia and other special events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Masters of Arts degree in visual arts or design required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Teaching introduction/foundation level courses in digital art practices.
- Mentoring students in art environment.
- Experience using Macintosh/PC platforms and MS Office Software required.
- Experience in the use of digital equipment (CNC, Lasercutter, 3D printing, digital photography, vinyl cutter, Adobe Creative Cloud).
- Experience in the use-maintenance of studio/gallery lab tools and equipment.
- Experience in light construction and painting.
- Familiarity with gallery practices and collections management.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively with faculty and university staff.
- Possess a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills

- Masters of Fine Arts degree in visual arts or design preferred.
