The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for a Term Assistant Professor of School Psychology position who is interested in supporting the development and implementation of a new graduate Specialist-Level School Psychology training program. This is a full-time, 9-month, term faculty position and includes a competitive salary, DOE, and full employee benefits package, with an expected start date in August 2025. Opportunities for summer teaching are available.
This program will prepare professionals in a place-based, culturally-sustaining, scientist-practitioner model with the goal of becoming NASP (National Association of School Psychologists) accredited and accepting the first cohort in fall 2025. This will be Alaska’s first school psychology degree program. The Department of Psychology at UAA offers bachelor (BA/BS), master (MS in Clinical Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis), and APA accredited doctorate (Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology) degrees. In addition, the Department offers professional certificates in Children’s Mental Health and Applied Behavior Analysis.
The Department prepares students: (1) for advanced study in the social and health sciences, and (2) to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The department also maintains the Psychological Services Center, a clinic that provides low-cost mental health services to campus and community members. The department strives to offer degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of the state of Alaska. Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral or Education Specialist (EdS) degree in School Psychology from an accredited program at the time of hire
- Documented experience in working with P - 12 student and family populations
- Eligible to obtain the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential AND/OR obtain an Alaska Special Services - Type C Endorsement School Psychology.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, 9-month, term-funded, non-tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
