Associate Vice Provost, Institutional Effectiveness

 

This role leads the overall planning, operation, and evaluation of the college’s accountability planning and effectiveness. The Associate Vice Provost provides leadership in ensuring evidence-based decision-making is used to develop district-wide strategy, assess academic programs and service areas, and implement continuous improvement practices.

 

Key to this role is maintaining current knowledge of trends in higher education relevant to those trends. The AVP Institutional Effectiveness provides a vision for the department within the broad context of the college’s mission, vision, and goals. This role requires extensive collaboration with all areas of the college and external stakeholders. This position represents the college in various civic, community, and professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels as required.

 

Additionally, this position supports, guides, assesses, and utilizes findings for all areas of the college related to future planning and decision-making. It provides leadership and oversight for systematically documenting the institutional planning and effectiveness process.

 

The AVP Institutional Effectiveness supports and supervises cross-functional teams as they seek to impact the college’s goals and overcome institutional inefficiencies. This position collaborates extensively with all areas of the college.

 

Minimum Education:

  • Master’s degree in any academic discipline. Doctorate degree preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience considered

 

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • 7-10 years of progressive administrative or managerial experience.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership and direction for Broward College’s assessment and effectiveness processes.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates departmental programs; maintains, updates, and ensures procedural and regulatory compliance of programs.
  • Manages the people within the department, including staffing recommendations, hiring, termination, discipline, setting performance standards, evaluating staff, and facilitating staff development.
  • Commits to fostering a collaborative and team-building environment.
  • Provides leadership and oversight for documenting the institutional planning and effectiveness process.
  • Supports and supervises cross-functional teams to impact the College’s goals and overcome institutional inefficiencies.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to train and retain superior quality administrators and staff
  • Provides leadership, supervision, professional development opportunities, and evaluation of the associate deans, directors, managers, and staff
  • Oversees multiple units and ensures their effective operation.
  • Develops and administers several large departmental budget(s)
  • Holds full responsibility for the oversight of multiple academic disciplines or units.
  • Ensures the protection and safe-keeping of confidential data acquired during work.
  • Possesses in-depth functional knowledge and expertise in the development and execution of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) plans and delivery of results.
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of Lean Six Sigma methodology
