Description

Position Title: Assistant Director, Career Development and Coaching, Business
Department: Piper Center for Vocation and Career
Reports To: Senior Associate Director, Employer and Alumni Relations
Classification: Exempt
FTE: 1.0
Starting Salary: $60,000
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide industry-specific, one-on-one career coaching and group programming
- Meet primarily with first- and second-year students interested in careers in business
- Collaborate with other Piper Center staff to coach and provide programming to support business students with overlapping interests
- Capitalize on knowledge of sectors, industries, specific companies, graduate programs, and professional/personal networks.
- Create and deliver industry-specific developmental workshops and programming to support students' discernment and aspirations.
- Help students create strong application materials, network effectively, and prepare for interviews.
- Assist with general first and second year coaching
- During non-peak industry-specific coaching periods, assist with appointments for students with interests that may or may not include business.
- Assist Piper Center staff with events directed at first- and second-year students to maximize early engagement with our services and programs.
- Assist with the Piper Center's on- and off-campus recruiting programs and support programming and employer relationships with business employers and
- Support events and activities for students to interact with employers, primarily in the private sector.
- Develop relationships with faculty, alumni, and parents in relevant academic and career industry areas
- Participate in professional development opportunities to build additional expertise and to enhance knowledge of coaching areas
- Attend Piper Center programs (e.g., Recruiting Showcase, Connections, etc.), as well as regional and national conferences to develop relationships with key contacts and learn more about the private sector.
6. Serve as advisor to business related clubs and as a liaison for athletics.
7. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
8. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle
9. Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
Term: Year-round
Shift: September-May, 40 hours per week, hours to be worked between Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; June-August, flexible schedule, must be approved by supervisor; travel up to 5% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 1-2 trips per year
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: 3+ years of experience in business/corporate or higher education environments with a background in program management, business development, training, executive coaching, recruitment, university relations, talent acquisition, or human resources; experience coaching or counseling clients or customers
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree
Experience: Higher education experience in career development or coaching clients or customers; experience working with undergraduate students; familiarity with career development/counseling theories and methods; specialized knowledge of business/corporate fields; experience in statistics/data science, computer science, or another technical area.

Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check, which may include criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of a DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
