Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator III, Student Activities works in collaboration with key campus stakeholders to intentionally engage students through student activities, student organizations, community service, sports club programs, and the student lounge. This position directly supports the Director/Program Manager, Student Activities/Student Services for Lone Star College with the development and assessment of student engagement programming.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees daily and some long-term operations of assigned area; Actively maintains up-to-date knowledge of area and acts as a Subject Matter Expert and general point of contact within the area of specialty
  2. Coordinates the day to day operations of the student lounge; Promoting and monitoring student involvement, training and advising faculty advisors and student leaders, and ensuring student organizations are in compliance with all state, system, and college policies, rules, and regulations
  3. Creates and submits a variety of reports related to assigned department; Performs research and analysis to assists with preparation and presentation of findings; May make presentations at various levels both internally and externally
  4. Assists with evaluation of programs and makes recommendations for revisions to processes and procedures, with a focus on continuous departmental/process improvement; Assists with development of new programs and events
  5. Collaborates with internal and external groups to coordinate all aspects of various student organizational activities and recreational events; Assists with planning, scheduling, and coordinating various meetings and events, including site selection and preparation, marketing and training materials, and general support
  6. Monitors departmental and RSO budget expenditures and controls resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department; Submits requisitions and follows up with reconciliation documentation
  7. Hire, train and supervise the student work study staff
  8. Takes part in and/or leads special projects as needed
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS :
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152-$55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
