Missoula College at the University of Montana is seeking applicants to join our growing program within the Department of Health Profession. Missoula College offers the two-year Associates of Applied Science in Paramedicine.

Qualified individuals are invited to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position within our team to provide high quality education, training, and mentorship to the next generation of Paramedics. This is a fiscal year, full-time, teaching position.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Assume primary teaching responsibility for and exercise oversight on all courses assigned in the area of Emergency Medicine, including review, development, and/or enhancement of curriculum, delivery, and learning exercises.
  • Participate in the overall strategic development and implementation of the mission, goals, and objectives of the program, as well as Program Pathways for related degrees, certificates, and workforce training.
  • Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the remote and hybrid pathways, assuring that the requirements remain consistent with the in-person pathway.
  • Participate in on-going program assessment and work within team to develop plans to improve program coursework, delivery, and student success.
  • Develop and execute the didactic course schedule, providing continuity between lecture, lab, examinations, and all other requirements for students.
  • Teach program courses both face to face and online.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the industry and related professions as well as current educational methodologies. Ensure that units of instruction follow syllabi which clearly state measurable objectives, student activities, learning resources, time allotment, grading criteria, and student evaluation methods.
  • Engage in learning, training, or professional development opportunities on emerging industry trends, technology, teaching pedagogy, curriculum development in areas related to program goals and teaching assignments.
  • Serve in advisory role for related student organizations and groups, student competitions, or other projects related to the program and curriculum.
  • Work to recruit and regularly engage Industry advisory board members to provide program updates, curriculum improvement assistance, and facilitate greater Industry participation.
  • As part of tenure track requirements, participate in professional development, service to the University and community, and work towards continued professional improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus related industry experience, or demonstratable equivalent progressive career experience
  • Current Montana Paramedic licensure, certification, and/or other professional credentials required for the position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain local employment as a paramedic or nurse at organizations used for clinical sites
  • Have the ability to complete training and achieve relevant Industry Recognized Credentials as provided by the Department
  • Competency using Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Expected to learn and utilize the University of Montana learning management system for classes as well as grading and attendance
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff
  • The ability to work and solve problems collaboratively and maintain a sense of cordiality in the workplace
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree, or expected completion within tenure probationary period
  • Knowledge of Two-Year Education and its mission and goals
  • Previous teaching experience within a secondary, post-secondary, or workforce training institution.
  • Current certifications or ability to obtain credentials through relevant recognized
  • Industry standards
  • Prior experience developing, modifying, and implementing curriculum, or other
  • workforce training
