Assistant or Advanced Assistant Professor of Economics
Williams College: Economics
Location: Williamstown, MA
Open Date: Aug 15, 2024
Deadline: Nov 15, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Description
The Williams College Economics Department invites applications for one tenure-track position in applied microeconomics, to begin July 1, 2025. We are particularly seeking candidates whose work relates to gender economics, labor economics, public economics, public policy, political economy, health economics, urban economics, or industrial organization. We seek candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their scholarship, teaching and service; and we especially encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented groups in the field.
We are a department of active scholars (https://econ.williams.edu/) and currently have 26 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. We offer extensive support and resources to help one succeed in teaching and research, including, among other things: generous leave policy and research funding; programs for professional development, mentoring, and networking; and a new evidence-based center to support teaching. For details see: https://econ.williams.edu/jobs/working-in-the-williams-econ-dept/.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D., or all requirements for the Ph.D. degree, completed by September 2025.
All offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background check. Further information is available at: http://dean-faculty.williams.edu/prospective-faculty/background-check-policy/.
Application Instructions
All materials should be submitted through Interfolio. Email, fax, or paper applications cannot be accepted. All applicants should submit a cover letter, their curriculum vitae, a recent research paper, and evidence of successful teaching. The cover letter should speak to the applicant’s ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. Applicants should ensure that three letters of reference are submitted on their behalf. We plan to conduct first-round interviews on Zoom, mostly in mid-December, and to schedule campus visits for finalists mostly in January. Questions regarding the search may be directed to Professor Jon Bakija, Chair, Department of Economics, jbakija@williams.edu.
The deadline for application and supporting materials is November 15, 2024.
