Shenandoah Conservatory is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant to the Dean. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University seeks an administrative assistant experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks to provide assistance to the Dean. Working in tandem with the Conservatory office team, the position offers many interesting opportunities for a professional interested in working in a creative and dynamic educational and arts environment.
Primary responsibilities:
- Maintaining strict confidentiality, provide a high level of support to Conservatory faculty, students, and alumni, as well as visiting artists and scholars
- Manage a complex calendar, prioritizing meetings and commitments of the Dean's time
- Assist the Dean with travel arrangements and preparation for meetings and events both on and off campus
- Work closely with multiple offices across the University
- Maintain budgets and track expenditures for the Conservatory
- Provide support for faculty searches including scheduling, communications, travel and expense reconciliation
- Provide support for projects, reports, and record keeping
- Supervise a staff of one or two work study students
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and office management skills (including exceptional calendar management skills)
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with a range of stakeholders including faculty, students, alumni, visiting artists and scholars and donors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with discretion in a fast paced and high profile setting
- Proven ability to maintain an inviting yet highly professional work environment
- Initiative and resourcefulness, with an exceptional ability to anticipate and solve problems
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Google Suite of applications
- A bachelor's degree and 5 years of work experience with progressive administrative responsibilities
- A desire to make a significant and positive impact on the lives of faculty and students within an intensive arts and educational community
Experience:
- Work experience in higher education or an arts environment with at least 5 years experience of support at the executive level is preferred.
- Flexibility to work beyond the traditional work day is necessary.
