Position Summary:
Counselors are full time Faculty who provide personal and educational counseling services to MCC’s diverse student population to aid in student retention. They provide referral, outreach, and connections with campus and community resources to support students. Counselors provide consultation to the campus community (faculty, staff, and administration) and student crisis intervention when needed. Counselors provide presentations and workshops to the campus and local community to aid in student retention and outreach.

Brief Description of Duties:
Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of consultation to personnel, faculty, staff, students and administration. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling the Metropolitan Community College mission, vision, values, strategic plan, Board of Trustees’ charges and educational philosophy, and primary goal of providing a quality education for all students attending the college. In accordance with Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education ( CAS ), counseling functions are defined by institutional characteristics, strategic priorities and organizational structures. - Experience identifying community resources and maintaining relationships with community partners to facilitate referrals for additional support services
