Samford University’s Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian University environment to apply for an Assistant Professor (Broadcast) in the Department of Communication and Media. This full-time tenure track position is a 9-month appointment and carries a twenty-four (24) credit hour teaching load. The position will begin August 2025.
Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. or be ABD in mass communication, communication, or a closely related field from an institutionally accredited college or university (or equivalent). Candidates should possess demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate broadcast journalism courses. Preference will be given to candidates with professional broadcast journalism, audio-video production, or documentary film production experience and the ability to teach sports broadcasting and/or film production courses. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a record of peer-reviewed scholarship and excellence in teaching. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor until Ph.D. is completed.
The Department of Communication and Media is home to Samford’s award-winning student media and hosts an annual speaker forum (Robinson Forum - a lecture series in cooperation with The Washington Post).
