Department: Professional Counseling

Position Summary:
The Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University seeks applications for a Temporary Instructor position in the Department of Professional Counseling. This appointment is for the 2024-2025 academic year and is a one-year initial appointment renewable up to a maximum of three years.

The candidate would be expected to: teach 12 credits per semester.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Master's degree

Required Skills or Software:
Must be able to utilize a variety of computer software programs in order to successfully complete assigned tasks, Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately

Required Years of Experience:

Other Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Counseling or a related field.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher, student advisor, academic leader and ability to contribute to the Institute for Health and Wellness.
  • Evidence of ability to teach core courses in a graduate counseling program.
  • Ability to work constructively with members of the University community.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program. Licensed, or license-eligible, Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey.
  • Specialization in Alcohol and Drug Counseling, licensed LCADC or license eligible. Experience in addiction counseling.
