Job Details
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Criminal Justice courses with an emphasis in Corrections and Justice Services. This position would be expected to teach courses that may include, but are not limited to, Corrections, Community Corrections, Offender Assessment and Management and Family Violence. Teaching assignments typically include a 4/4 course load with 24 credit hours taught per academic year.
- Criminal Justice courses are taught in-person on the Winona campus.
- Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Contribute to student growth and development, including student advising.
- Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community.
- Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Ph.D./ABD or other Doctorate in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field
- J.D. may be considered with Master's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field and professional experience in Corrections
Preferred:
- Ph.D./ABD is preferred.
- Relevant teaching experience in Criminal Justice and Corrections at a college or university and demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
- Relevant non-academic and/or professional experience in Corrections and Justice Services.
- Content and Quality of graduate course work.
- Research experience.
- Possess effective communication skills.
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
- The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
