Research Compliance Coordinator (FP452A)

ODU is seeking candidates for a Research Compliance Coordinator(full-time, 12 month) position. Reporting to the Director of Research Compliance, the Research Compliance Coordinator (RCC) serves as a liaison to the University’s IACUC and provides programmatic support to the committee. The RCC facilitates faculty submission of materials to the committee as required and coordinates research compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, performs initial review of submitted materials, develops and maintains a protocol tracking database including management of and ensuring accuracy of records, completes both pre- and post- approval monitoring audits of IACUC protocols, maintains current knowledge of existing policies, and provides content for the compliance web pages. The RCC will also support the routine function of the committee by coordinating meetings, preparing meeting minutes and agendas, informing faculty of the status of pending research protocols, and assisting the Director of Research Compliance with planning and implementing educational and training programs for faculty and staff as warranted by regulatory changes or program deficits/changes.

 

 

 

Required Education: Masters degree or Bachelors degree with relevant equivalent experience to an MS degree in a related field (e.g. biological sciences or animal science-related field)

 


Required Qualifications:

 

General knowledge of federal regulations related to the conduct of university-based research. Familiarity with OLAW, USDA and AAALAC regulations Ability to analyze regulatory and other written material and apply to current University policies/procedures and/or review of a pending proposal. Ability to coordinate meetings, prepare professional correspondence, and use computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office). Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with a range of audiences including university administrators, faculty, students, federal and other state agencies, animal care staff , and other individuals interacting with the university research enterprise. Some experience in university, research, or other technical environment as a researcher and/or an administrator Some experience working with animals in a research setting. Preferred Qualifications: N/A
