Description

The Department of Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty appointments to begin in August 2025, one in Inorganic Chemistry and one in Physical Chemistry . A successful candidate for the Inorganic Chemistry position will be expected to teach Inorganic Chemistry lecture and lab, either General Chemistry lecture and lab or Organic Chemistry lecture and lab, and an upper-level elective. A successful candidate for the Physical Chemistry position will be expected to teach Quantum Mechanics and Spectroscopy lecture and lab, Thermodynamics, General Chemistry lecture and lab, and an upper-level elective. As our department grows to meet increasing student interest and to contribute further to the College, our new colleagues will be the second inorganic chemist and third physical chemist in our department. These positions carry a 3-2 teaching load with a research leave prior to tenure review of either a full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Full-time laboratory supervisors prepare all laboratory experiments and work with faculty members during each lab. To enable a smooth transition to Holy Cross, new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receive start-up funding to support their research and professional development and have a one-course reduction in their first year of teaching (i.e., 2-2). All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and full benefits. Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and a commitment to effective undergraduate teaching in the context of a liberal arts college. Ph.D. in Chemistry required.
