Salary/Pay Range : $40,268 - $47,500 annually . Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary

The Military Education Coordinator plays a crucial role in connecting with military education centers and the Veteran and Military Affairs (VMA) office to both prospective and current students. This role involves facilitating on-base course offerings, maintaining strong relationships with military Education Center staff, and delivering exceptional support through various communication platforms including in person, email, phone, and virtual meetings (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom). The coordinator will handle admissions, advising, outreach, administrative tasks, resource referrals, and military transfer credit evaluations. Additionally, the position requires developing and executing recruitment and outreach strategies compliant with Department of Defense (DOD) rules and regulations, preparing reports for VMA leadership, and ensuring adherence to University, Federal, State, and base policies. This position works at both the Ft Carson Education Center and the UCCS campus and is 100% on-site.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist prospective and current students with admissions, advising, registration, financial aid, course selection, and utilization of Tuition Assistance/VA education benefits.
  • Advise the director/assistant director on recruitment strategies, military policies, and military outreach efforts.
  • Aid students in navigating Military Tuition Assistance systems.
  • Represent the University and VMA at various recruitment events, including on- and off-campus events, job fairs, local conferences, and military ceremonies.
  • Stay updated on campus programs and admissions requirements.
  • Work with the Student Financial Services office to support students using Tuition Assistance and/or VA education benefits.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with military representatives across bases.
  • Provide briefings to military representatives and education counselors as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director/Director to assess program effectiveness through surveys, feedback, and data collection and analysis to ensure continuous improvement and more accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director/Director to prepare reports on program outcomes, student engagement, and areas for development.
  • Support VMA with implementation of student success initiatives tailored to the needs of military-affiliated students.
  • Engage college faculty and staff in recruitment and enrollment activities, and work with the Office of Admissions on outreach programs.
  • Evaluate military transcripts, including Joint Service Transcripts (JST), for transfer credit.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and presentation that reflects the University and VMA positively.
  • Supervise VA Work Study students and manage VA Work Study contracts and time collection.
  • Manage installation access needs for UCCS staff, faculty, administrators, and students.
  • C oordinate classroom assignments and equipment needs for on-base courses.
  • Participate in occasional travel, evening, and weekend events.
  • Collaborate with other educational institutions at the Fort Carson Education Center for workshops and information sessions .
  • Perform other duties as assigned by VMA.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or at least seven (7) years of military service.
  • 1 year or more years experience in advising, recruitment, customer service, and/or sales.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field
  • Experience working directly with students in higher education
  • Experience with military-affiliated students
  • Experience serving in the Armed Forces
  • Familiarity with VA educational benefits, Military Tuition Assistance, and/or CRM systems like Salesforce
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
