Job Details
The Department of Computer Science at Swarthmore College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall semester 2025. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, or expected by Fall 2025. The position is open to all areas of computer science, including interdisciplinary research in the humanities, arts, and social sciences. The ideal candidate will complement current offerings in core areas, particularly in the area of systems.
S warthmore College is a highly selective liberal arts college, located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, whose mission combines academic rigor with social responsibility. The Department of Computer Science currently has eleven tenure-track faculty and five visiting faculty. Faculty teach both introductory courses in the department’s core curriculum and advanced courses in their research areas. Typical teaching loads are two courses and three lab sections supporting the two courses over the course of the year. We are currently one of the most popular majors at the College with over 90 Computer Science majors graduating in 2024.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, or expected by Fall 2025. The strongest candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to creative teaching and an active research program that speaks to and motivates undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.

- A curriculum vitae.
- A research statement describing any research interests and
activity that could involve Swarthmore undergraduates.
- A teaching statement that describes your teaching experience
and philosophy, including which courses you can offer.
- Candidates should discuss in their cover letter, teaching
statement, and research statement what experience and plans they
have for creating a more inclusive environment for students.
- Three letters of recommendation, including at least one letter
specifically commenting on teaching.
